Changing a strap

With a spring bar tool you can change a leather strap in a few minutes – cleanly and without scratches.

  1. Step 1: Lay the watch on a soft cloth; protect delicate lugs with tape if needed.
  2. Step 2: Set the fork between strap and lug, compress the spring bar and tilt the strap out.
  3. Step 3: Slide the spring bar into the new strap and set one end into the lug hole.
  4. Step 4: Press in the other end with the fork, bring the strap into position and let it click in.
  5. Step 5: Give the strap a pull: if everything holds, the change is done.

Tip The long piece with the holes goes on the 6 o’clock side, the short piece with the buckle on the 12 o’clock side.
