Measuring a spring bar

Spring bars look alike but differ in length and diameter. Here is how to find the right one.

  1. Step 1: Size = lug width of the watch. A 20 mm watch needs 20 mm spring bars.
  2. Step 2: Ø 1.5 mm for leather, rubber and silicone straps.
  3. Step 3: Ø 1.78 mm for metal bracelets with end links.
  4. Step 4: Relaxed, a bar is about 2–3 mm longer than its size – that is how it locks securely into the holes.

Tip New MARCHEL straps come with matching spring bars. Do not reuse old bars if they are bent or their spring is weak.
